INSPIRED TORI AMOS DOLL I went to a concert of Tori Amos, a
great vocalist and pianiast! The doll I created was just to capture an essence of her character and her message in music.
I created a doll of Tori. It's a little doll with a lot of red hair. I love Tori's choice of clothing on stage. I recall one
outfit on her Welcome to Florida DVD. Her choice of clothing for that concert in Florida was the inspiration for the Tori
doll's costuming. Although the shoes on the doll are more like a clogs, and not like the chic sandals Tori wore, I tried to
capture the fact that Tori wears some great shoes! (I love shoes). The clogs have a wedge of a heel, but there is a bit of
design in them. The remaining part of the doll picturesque is that the doll is sitting on a large parasol. On the parasol,
are words scattered about in gold: Trust, love, parasol, Tori, Amos. The fabric is knit, so it had its own direction of where
a painted design would go. Finally, on the tip of the parasol is a gold seating. It would be the metal piece that holds the
parasol together. It was by accident that I created the parasol that big. I meant it to be small. I really do like the song
Parasol from her album The Beekeeper. And I also took in the meaning she gave of the song, in her commentary from the bonus
cd. It was wonderful being able to express my appreciation for Tori's music and her quest to constantly grow artistically
with her work and learn more and more about the quest she is on.
